Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure my garage door spring?
To measure your spring accurately:
  • Wire gauge: Use a tape measure to measure 20 coils, from the outside of one coil to the outside of the 20th coil. This gives us the wire gauge.
  • ID size: Measure from the inside bottom of the coil to the inside top of the coil for the inside diameter.
  • Spring length: If the spring is broken, measure just the coils on each piece and add them together. Only measure the coils, not the ends, to get the total length.
Bringing these measurements to us ensures we can match your spring precisely.
Can you match my old spring if I bring it in?
Absolutely. Bring your old or broken spring, and we’ll cut a new one to match the exact specs on the spot.
Do you cut springs to custom lengths?
Yes — we keep many typical sizes in stock. If we don’t already carry the exact size, we’ll custom cut in-house to fit your door setup for safe, balanced operation.
Do you offer same-day service or pickup?
Yes — most orders are ready the same day. We keep a large local stock so you don’t wait on shipping.
What’s the difference between torsion and extension springs?
Torsion springs mount above the door and wind up as the door closes, while extension springs stretch along the tracks. We stock both types locally.
Are garage door springs dangerous to replace?
Yes — springs are under extreme tension. Improper installation can cause injury and property damage. Please review our Liability Disclosure, and we strongly encourage having a qualified professional perform spring replacement.
Do you offer commercial springs?
Yes — we stock 2″ to 6″ ID springs for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
